How to Quit Smoking

Congratulations on your decision to be a non-smoker. That is your first step towards better health.

Quitting smoking can be a daunting endeavour. You may realize that it is time to stop your smoking habit due to personal reasons, health reasons, the health of your loved ones or even financial reasons. Whatever the motivation might be, it is a healthy and important decision for you.

There are numerous benefits to quitting smoking:

  • * decreased heart rate
  • * decreased blood pressure
  • * improved circulation
  • * decreased risk of cancer, heart disease, lung disease and neurological conditions
  • * enhanced ability to taste and smell
  • * improved breathing capacity
  • * increased endurance and energy
  • * save money
  • * look and feel younger
  • * improve health to those around you - no second hand smoke
  • * sense of accomplishment and pride that comes with quitting
  • * cigarettes no longer control your life

Conventional assistance for smoking cessation may include counseling, and variety of medications, including nicotine replacement therapy (e.g., nicotine patch, nicotine gum) and non-nicotine medications including antidepressants. These medications may have short- or long-term side effects. For this reason, you may choose to try natural treatment to possibly avoid use of conventional medications, or together with conventional medications in order to decrease dosages of conventional medications required to stop smoking.

During any smoking cessation program it is important to have both emotional encouragement as well as physical support. Dr. Esposito provides both education to help you to understand why you smoke and natural treatment options to assist you in your transition to becoming a non-smoker. It typically takes 30 days to change one's habit or behaviour. Therefore, our smoking cessation program is based on a 30 day transition period.

Here is what you'll receive with our How to Quit Smoking Naturally program:

  • * Nutritional Counseling

Please note that an intial consultation is required prior to beginning the smoking cessation program. As well, herbal and homeopathic remedies may be recommended and are not included in the cost of the program.
