The term "energy medicine" covers a wide range of therapies. The commonality between these therapies, which is the essence of energy medicine, is that they share the goal of returning our energetic field - our body"s life force - into a state of balance to achieve health.
Energy medicines offered at Algoma Natural Healing Clinic include acupuncture, homeopathy, mind-body medicine, Emotional Freedom Technique and Quantum Touch therapy. The former three are covered in other sections, so we"ll focus on the latter two.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
Experts like Deepak Chopra, MD, Bruce Lipton, PhD, and Candace Pert, PhD all endorse this relatively "new" therapy. EFT basically combines mind-body medicine with acupressure (acupuncture without needles). Specific meridian points on the body are stimulated through tapping with our fingers. By stimulating these points, negative beliefs, emotions and traumas can be addressed in a gentle and non-confrontational manner.
Dr. Esposito has studied EFT using the course developed by Gary Craig, the original founder of EFT.
Quantum Touch Therapy
Quantum Touch Therapy is a vibrational touch therapy that incorporates touch, breath work, and body awareness meditations. Quantum touch practitioners work to focus, amplify and direct energy to specific parts of the body, depending on the concern or condition being treated. Quantum touch is based on the theory of entrainment, which is the process where two vibrating objects, vibrating at different speeds, start to vibrate at the same speed when energy is transferred between the two objects. Using Quantum Touch techniques, the practitioner can hold a higher vibration than the patient. This field of high energy can be placed around an area of pain, stress, inflammation, or disease, which initiates the body to entrain to the higher frequency, thus amplifying the body"s ability to heal itself.
